Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to create a tabletop RPG set within the series' apocalyptic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to launch in April of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, tactical intensity, and memorable setting to the table, offering fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," states an official release.

Initial offerings will include a starter set, core rulebooks, a GM screen, miniatures, and several premium versions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the nation into chaos. As the pandemic escalates, civil order breaks down and hostile groups rise, transforming the urban landscape into a battlefield. To restore order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. That’s where the players enter the story.

Development on the RPG has been underway for approximately three years, and it is reportedly complete. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a pre-launch sales platform to access a wider market, specifically in the United States. Production is slated to begin immediately following the campaign, with shipping projected for the latter part of 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system reveals it uses d10s predominantly through its new GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and strategic style. Players use abilities to roll a handful of dice, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, players choose a single “result die” from the group.
  • This die is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a perfect 10 triggers special effects, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Engagements Emphasize Positioning and Situational Insight

Fights prioritize placement and situational awareness, mirroring the source material. Factors like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility have a direct impact dice rolls. This mechanic seems built to favor teamwork and smart positioning over raw numbers.

A Thematic Health Mechanic

The way injuries is tracked introduces a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage reduces their capabilities by decreasing the size of their dice pool.

  1. At critical condition, an operative is downed, but they’re not unconscious.
  2. They can still crawl and take limited actions, simulating the "downed" state common to video game shooters.
  3. Any player in this state must roll on a trauma table, risking lingering conditions like trauma or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Scenario

A free Quickstart Guide is promised in the near future. It includes a ready-to-play introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group spearhead the search for a missing medical team and must thwart an attack by the violent Rikers faction, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the complete product lineup will be unveiled closer to the Kickstarter start date.
