Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police reported they were alerted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state initial examinations show the fluid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for details.

An important political figure said the attack rendered him without words and required to be resolved promptly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
